Market Comment
Ukrainian equity markets finished the week in a gloomy mood Friday (July 9). The UX index followed trends set on Russian exchanges to close 0.94% lower. Total UX trading volume was moderate at UAH 71 mln. Banking names (BAVL -1.55%, USCB -1.87%) bottomed out on the blue chips list followed by metals and mining stocks (ALMK -1.63%, AVDK -1.09%, ENMZ -0.88%, YASK -1.18%).

Politics: Ukraine’s opposition shrinking fast
Event: Five members of the opposition jumped across the aisle in Ukraine’s Parliament (Verkhovna Rada) on Friday (July 9), Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn reported. Three members of Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc and two from Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense joined the Stability and Reform Coalition (SRC), bringing total membership to 265.
