Market Comment
Ukrainian equity markets fluctuated between gains and losses Monday (July 19). The UX exchange dropped 0.65% weighed down by metals and mining stocks (ALMK -1.09%, AVDK -1.48%, AZST -0.95%, ENMZ -0.65%, YASK -1.25%). Trading remained sluggish with a total turnover of UAH 28.8 mln. Ukrnafta added a fraction (UNAF +0.03%) and was joined by Sumy Frunze (SMASH +4.46%) as the only names in the index basket to buck the broad market decline.

GenCos: Donbassenergo to raise UAH 1.2 bln in long-term debt
Event: Donbassenergo (DOEN), a Ukrainian thermal power generating company, submitted a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a ten-year, UAH 1.2 bln loan starting from October 2010. According to the announcement made yesterday (Jul 19), the company will be accepting proposals from potential lenders until 10 a.m. on August 5. The announcement was reported by Interfax news agency and other media with no company objective cited for going to the debt market.

Metals and Mining: Zaporizhstal to increase share capital by 20%
Event: Zaporizhstal called an EGM for September 2 and included in the agenda an item concerning a 20% share capital increase ($16.7 mln) to $100.5 mln, Interfax news agency reported on July 18.

Machinery: KVBZ boosts 1H2010 output six-fold
Event: Kryukiv Railcar Plant (KVBZ), a leading Ukrainian freight railcar maker and sole producer of passenger cars, boosted freight car output 6x Y-o-Y to 4,329 cars. However, 1H2010 production figures imply that the plant has reported a minor slow-down on a M-o-M basis, producing 771 cars in June compared to 850 in May 2010.
